Free Inquiry Reflection #2 – Ducking Along

What?
I began my second reflection on my watercolour journey by drawing along with the youtube video I attached above. Although the video said it was an “easy duck drawing,” I had two attempts and still do not necessarily feel happy with the outcome of my drawing. Once I completed my drawing I traced it with a fine tip marker before going to Pintrest to get inspiration for my following creation. I searched ‘watercolour painting with a duck’ and found a bowtie duck that fit my vision perfectly.
So What?
I Learnt:
- The importance of tracing with black fine liner marker after the watercolour part is done as the black lines seemed to bleed into the water colour paint
- How to draw a duck and all though not my proudest drawing, it is not the worst
My Struggles:
- I defiently struggled in sketching my duck drawing especially when it came to the wing and feet
- With struggling to sketch the duck I had to erase a lot which meant I had to be careful not to effect the watercolour paper (as watercolour is very tranparent).
My Strengths:
- I am proud that I mixed colours together to make the shade the ducks body is.
- I also am proud that I did not perfectly copy the Inspiration picture and added my own special touch
Now What?
Moving forward I would like to have a fall themed painting as we get. into this beautiful autume weather. With saying this I would like to incorporate working on more complex images with shading effect as I more forward with my images. I will watch this youtube video on shading attached below before working on my next art piece.
